London Winter 2007 - Fogfest and London Eye

A couple of days before Xmas 07, we went down to London for some touristing.

We caught a couple of shows, Wicked (OK, but not really my style of show), and Spamalot (a must for any Monty Python fan). We also saw the King Tut exhibition at the O2 arena. Of course, I don't have any pictures of any of this, but I do have some shots of things we saw walking around.

The weather was very cold and foggy, but I guess it was fairly xmas-y ;)

We took the tube to the London Bridge station, and walked around Bankside a bit, on our way to the Globe theatre.

I'm pretty sure this was Southwark Cathedral, since it's in the right place on the map..

And this is the Golden Hinde ship...

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre doesn't have any performances in the winter, but they are open for a pretty good tour of the place. They explain about the construction and history, which is pretty cool. With the exception of a couple of lights and fire prevention systems, the theatre is supposed to have been built using materials and methods from the 1500s.

After the tour, we went to the aquarium, which was apparently being attacked by stormtroopers.

Now, we had originally planned on going on the London Eye after the aquarium, and the weather looked liked this before we went in..

And, like this after we got out !!

Needless to say, we decided not to go up that day, since visibility was about 20 feet.

The next day though, was nice and fog free, so we went on up. It's kind of expensive, but everyone should probably do it once, since the view is awesome.

Well, that's all for that trip. I really need to live in London sometime. There's just so much to do!
