US National Arboretum - Washington DC - August 2003

Here are a few pictures from a day trip to the National Arboretum in DC.  It's not the biggest garden I've ever been to, but it had some cool stuff, and I think it's the best garden in the area.










They had a very impressive bonsai tree collection, including a redwood tree! Some of them were hundreds of years old...







These columns used to be part of the capitol building, until it was extended in 1958.  This setup is very similar to some of the follies you see in European gardens.
