Before going into the church, I went up to the top of the tower (it was
a separate
entrance at the back). I took an elevator about halfway up, and then
walked a whole lot of stairs before I finally reached the top. The view
was definitely worth the climb! From the top of the tower, you can get
a great panoramic view of the whole city, as seen below...
Inside the church, there is a separate chapel that contains a reliquary
with the mummified hand of St. Stephen,
the first
king of Hungary. The room is kept really dark, and the only
way to see the hand is to put a coin in a machine by the altar. No
pictures allowed of course.

This night had the first of the optional excursions: a Hungarian
Folklore night. This included a Hungarian meal, with musicians and
dancers for entertainment. I thought the food was pretty good, although
my British companions didn't care for it. The music was pretty good
too, mostly gypsy music (I liked it enough to buy a CD: the Lugosi Band) . I took a few
