London Trip Day One - 27 May 2005

These are pictures from the first day of a weeklong trip I took to London in late May.

Most of the first day was spent traveling to London (6 hours by bus!), so there wasn't
really time to see any of the typical tourist venues. Everything closes at 5pm, so we
decided just to go downtown and look around for a while.

Our hotel was way out in the docklands, so we had to take the light rail into town and
transfer to the tube. It was a bit cheaper than staying downtown, but it really added
a good hour of traveling time during the day.

This was an incredibly hot day, I think it made it up above 90 degrees. This is
extremely warm for England, and the tube stations were a bit sauna-ish.

Our first stop was Trafalgar square. There were tons of people sitting on the edge of
the fountain trying to stay cool.
