London Day Five - 31 May 2005
Pages: 1 2 >>

I couldn't take a trip to London without seeing  Kew Gardens,
the world-famous botanic garden. I planned to use the whole day
there, and it definitely was not enough.

Of course by this time, after four full days of walking around, my
feets were killing me, so I was walking slower than normal.

This garden is absolutely huge. There are at least three large
greenhouses, a few lakes, different types of forests, everything
you could want, assuming you dig plants.

There is currently an exhibition throughout the garden of Dale
Chihuly's
sculptures. They were interspersed with the plants all
over the place. At first I thought they would be distracting, but
they turned out to be very cool. (As you can see by all the pictures
I took). They are on display through January, if you should happen
to be in the London area.

On to the photos....   (Don't forget to see page 2 after you are
done)

Nice lily pads

There was a
whole valley of these.
Unfortunately, parents
were letting their kids
go wild picking them...

These desert plants
seemed a bit out of
place!

This greenhouse had
several different biomes.

The sculptures were
sort of like alien plants.

Pagoda Tree

One of the oldest trees
in the gardens.

Needs some help
standing up.

Queen's Garden

Bamboo

Across the river from
the gardens.

A duck!
